Heron Dance art journals and books explore the inner work underlying creative work and creating a life.
The primary tools in this practice are the use of art journaling in combination with meditation.

All Heron Dance books are published (or shortly will be) in both inexpensive e-formats (PDF and Kindle) and premium, first-edition art books.

All prices include taxes (and shipping for books, art and other physical items).

The following options start with the least expensive.

What Members and Non-Members Receive

There are two parts to this work.

  • The fictional journals of Archibald Campbell, wild artist, which show journaling in action. These are free and sent to all who opt in, Members and Nonmembers. They are described here. Archibald’s evolution and background is described here. You can read an example post here.

  • The books I create that explore the techniques that make journaling an effective tool in understanding one’s life and its characteristics, both hidden and obvious. They guide us in the creation of unique lives and unique creative work. These books explore journaling in an in-depth way, and are provided to paid Members in appreciation of their support, without which neither the paid or free publications could exist.

Paid Members

Members receive a PDF of every book Heron Dance published in 2024, and will publish going forward. These books are described below and are provided in two formats:

  • Smaller file size, easy to download and in sufficient resolution to easily read.

  • Larger files, broken in three, in a high-quality resolution for print. You can print any pages you’d like to incorporate in your own journals. All of these books are printed 11 x 8.5 so can be easily printed on home printers.

You can read more about these books below and here.

Meditations on Gratitude, Beauty and Mystery

Gratitude as a philosophy of life and spiritual practice.

Our lives are a brief spark between two eternities. We are surrounded by natural beauty. The nature of the gift we've been given -- life -- is elusive and mysterious. This book celebrates that gift from a wide variety of perspectives. What we express gratitude for gains power in our lives.

The work in this book evolved out of the popular Substack, A Pause for Beauty as well as The Heron Dance Book of Love and Gratitude, the book published twenty years ago that remains the most popular book Heron Dance has ever published.
