That celebrate the beauty and mystery of creation

And the creative journey.

I’ve decided to make up my mind about nothing,
to assume the water mask,
to finish my life disguised as a creek, an eddy,
joining at night the full, sweet flow, to absorb the sky,
to swallow the heat and cold, the moon and the stars,
to swallow myself in ceaseless flow.

   – Jim Harrison, Cabin Poem from The Shape Of The Journey

. . .

Something of birdsong, in me
Something of the stars
Something of wild rivers in my veins
Something of cohesion, something of chaos,
Something of wisdom
In my soul and in the universal flows
From which I came.

It searches for me
I search for it.
The beauty of wild things, wild places
Is in me.

I search for it.
-   Journal Note

. . .

I’m considering different ways to explore the uses of journaling in nurturing one’s relationship with one’s quiet interior. These are rough, preliminary notes for now. I’ll rethink and reorganize them as time evolves. Ultimately I’d like to put all these hundreds of notes together into a guide or book that I and others can refer to. I’m considering organizing journaling retreats. For now, rather than include lengthy notes here in the Pause For Beauty, I’ll just include a link.

Here’s a link to some thoughts on using journaling to identify the patterns of our lives — both the patterns that have helped and the patterns that have been self-defeating.
