We’ve been friends off and on for years
He doesn’t talk much
But looks at me with love in his eyes.
So he put his arm around me
And said welcome back.
Have a seat if you want.
And then he went to his own chair and waited
Waited for me to talk.
I don’t have much to say today
Just thank you
Thank you for welcoming me back
Thank you for always wanting the best for me
Thanks for always offering your thoughts, your wisdom
Even if it is often not what I want to hear.
You are tough, and you are full of love
You know life, and you know me
Thanks for still being my friend.
